Vintage 1930s 1940s Custom Made SILK ROBE BALLOON SLEEVES sz S
This gorgeous silk robe has a very silver screen quality about it, characteristic of the 1930s/40s. It features a lovely full collar that drapes over the tops of the shoulders and is trimmed is shadow lace. The sleeves are very full, balloon style that drape beautifully at the wrists. It fastens with three buttons just on the bodice with the skirt remaining unfastened so it can accommodate a wider range of hip measurements. We assume this robe was custom made (to professional standards) as there is no label or indication that there ever was one.
The condition of this robe is quite good given its age. Structurally there are no flaws that we can find. There are a few faded dirt spots on the silk that may be removable with the right cleaning product. There is also one snag that we could find in the silk, which is very minor. We did steam this robe before photographing it which did cause a few faint water spots, but those will come right out when you wash the robe and aren't visible unless you hold the robe up to the light.
The measurements are consistent with a contemporary size small. It fits our size 2/4 mannequin nicely. Because every figure is different, please...
